UPDATE; March 13th
Just in case anyone might think that Everton might become top dogs, not underdogs, they just got sent to the doghouse with their tails between their legs tonight. Liverpool 3 Everton 0. oops!
David Moyes, manager of Everton for the last 10 years, got a nice present to celebrate that long tenure (longest in the league except for Ferguson and Wenger?) by defeating Spurs today. It was lucky, very lucky but you need that sometimes, says 'himself'. I watched the match on TV with our two grandsons so I hope they are getting into supporting the only team in the Premier League worth supporting ... "The People's Team", "The School of Science." Everton have won no trophies in those 10 years but that doesn't matter. As Landon Donovan says, there's a magic about this team that is difficult to pin down. Few people understand that winning isn't everything especially in that league of top teams with vast sums of money keeping the top 6 teams in that position. Low-budget Everton occasionally break into the top 6 and that's as good as it gets. The greatest joy the team gives is in beating the big boys, especially Chelsea and Man. City with their oil-financed superteams. That's what keeps me interested. Perrenial underdogs! "IN MOYES WE TRUST" was written in big letters across the front of the Goodison stands today. I hope and trust he won't get lured away to an oily-garch, big-money team but rumours abound.
