Looks lately like this blog has become the Guardian. Many of the photos that accompany these barks have come from environment articles in The Guardian newspaper. No problem. At least The Guardian has some semblance of rationality about it, publishing an article as "alarmist" as this. I'd like to think I have become a guardian of nature, that I speak for nature, that I am nature and nature is alarmed. Very alarmed. The metaphor of a dog again. After all, this is strawdog speaking, barking, shouting, letting anyone who will listen know that something is wrong. The earth has become like a dog with fleas, human fleas that have so inflamed the surface skin of the planet, that the earthdog is now beginning to contort, scratch and chew at itself in a violent attempt to rid itself of the raging itch. Most people don't realize that climate change is not just about the weather but about all of life's support systems undergoing upheaval. Even last year I, an ouspoken climate change science advocate, was saying to my wife that, no, earthquakes and volcanoes could not be caused by climate change but the evidence is starting to mount that I was very wrong back then. We are truly a force of nature and one that is on a road to self-destruction.
