July could not end without paying tribute to the Trinity of Twats who made their mark this month in various ways at various levels of the political spectrum that affect us here in Toronto. These are the bean counters, the money men, the political pawns of capitalism, the bloated public faces of the Giant Ponzi Scheme that is our economic system. If Mitt The Twit wins the American election, the grip of Wall Street will be completely secure. Under Obama there is at least a chance that the veil of secrecy that surrounds power will get lifted occasionally and the crass corruption at the heart, no, at the top of the system be seen for what it is. Too often this blog has quoted and linked to The Guardian newspaper but more and more The National Post, that erstwhile Conrad Black mouthpiece, is showing some balls under Doug Kelly, its publisher.

One of the most important protests ever to take place in Canada? Or just another bit of public theatre that will amuse Harper and his followers?
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2012/07/10/pol-death-evidence-protest-parliament-hill.html?cmp=rss There is anger out there against Harper but it is being fed into so many small tributaries like this small protest by scientists, that it will take a long time for them to ever meet and morph into a powerful river that will flow through the Augean stables of power in Canada and wash away these hardened, midden mountains of manure that have filled the minds of so many Canadians, shit that has poured down from a great height for so long, from the top down. It would be wonderful if this protest became the catalyst, the bonding agent, the tipping point, the time and space where critical mass was reached and the tributaries all flowed together into a mass movement that just brushed aside the massive dung hill of Power and the security infrastructure that keeps Harper, his party, the oily-garchs who fund them and the oilpawns who vote for them, in power. Could science, by thus entering the fray, make itself the obvious, rational leadership of the many disparate groups that make up the protest 'movement' against the Harper gang? It would take a lot of educating people about what science really is before it is seen as the leadership of the mind (the lab coat part of the protest crowd is unfortunately playing to stereotypes) ... science is just plain common sense backed up by evidence obtained by the best methods so far devised. This is what Harper and his Christian ministers like Goodyear don't get. Here's how Rick Mercer sees it ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH2_ueCeVv4 I had hoped in that last post, that a reformed Italy and half-wise Balotelli might keep their heads in the game against Spain but could anyone have stood up to that turbo-charged outfit on that particular day? It was as hopeless an endeavour as protests against bankers like Bob Diamond whose footwork (cute hoors) and passing (the buck) keeps them uncatchable and unbeatable.
